Walter Tournier makes highly creative and almost craftsman-like animation films using the materials and technologies he finds in his home country. Appealing to young and old, he presents a universal message about ‘the Latin American’, popular Caribbean stories or ecology. He has survived political problems and restraints, exile in Argentina and Peru, and a deficient cinema infrastructure, and as a consequence has brought life to film in Uruguay. He is currently contributing to the formulation of the Uruguayan Film Act.
