Marcelo Araúz Lavadenz rediscovered the Baroque musical heritage in ‘his’ region of Santa Cruz and brought to it new life and a new future. The old Baroque traditions are the product of intercultural exchange with the local Amerindian population. Araúz promotes the cultural, social and economic potential of cultural heritage through the annual Festival of Baroque Music, which he organises; the Urubichá Choir, which he founded; and music education.
