Get Lost Theatre

Get Lost Theatre kicks off this month with A Tranquil Star! Get Lost (formerly Ervaar Daar Hier Theater) brings to the Netherlands exceptional theatre and dance performances from regions with performing arts traditions usually unknown to the Dutch public. The performances take place throughout the Netherlands from October 2014 through May 2015.

In Memoriam

The Prince Claus Fund is deeply saddened by the passing of 2011 Prince Claus Laureate Paul Brickhill, founder of The Book Café in Harare, Zimbabwe. The Prince Claus Fund extends its sincere condolences to his family and our friends and partners at The Book Café.

New Network Partner

The Prince Claus Fund is excited to announce the addition a new network partner: The Kibii Foundation in Suriname. The partnership with the Kibii Foundation will tackle societal issues through the arts in order to generate cultural tourism and social development within the country.  The Kibii Foundation will bring international artists and experts to Moengo for cultural exchange with local youth, offering training opportunities and collaborations to create new works.

Review Africa Call

'Review: Prince Claus Fund 2013 Africa Call for Proposals' is now available online and in print. 'The Review' not only shows the diversity of the projects that were supported by the 2013 Africa Call, but also offers insights into the context in which they take place, the people behind them and a broader reflection on what these projects mean.

First ADPP workshop

The Arab Documentary Photography Programme (ADPP) kicked off its first workshop in Beirut last month. With support from the Prince Claus Fund, the Arab Fund for Art and Culture and Magnum Foundation, ADPP promotes unconventional visual documentation of important social issues and narratives relevant to the Arab region. The nine participants receive financial and professional support to complete their proposed photography projects.

Launching the Prince...

The Prince Claus Fund is excited to announce the launch of the Prince Claus Fund PhotoBox, a limited edition collection of photographs by eight internationally renowned photographers who are Prince Claus laureates or partners of the Fund. Proceeds from the PhotoBox will be used to support young photographers working in difficult circumstances worldwide.

Africa Out Loud!

The Prince Claus Fund and De Nieuwe Kerk are excited to announce their collaboration  Africa Out Loud! Music, Architecture & Arts from the Continent. This new collaboration brings artists, architects, and musicians from the Prince Claus Fund’s extensive African network to De Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam. Africa Out Loud! will accompany De Nieuwe Kerk’s major international exhibition on African art, Magical Africa, Masks and Sculptures from Côte d’Ivoire

Torchbearer Reflection

Prince Claus Fund Torchbearers Marry de Gaay Fortman and Evert Meiling supported the Cambodian hiphop crew & education centre Tiny Toones in 2013. When the dancers performed in Rotterdam, Marry and her family were there: 'Afterwards, talking to the Tiny Toones performers, my daughters were impressed by these young performers' joyfulness and their energy, creativity and the way they connected to other people: they are a great example to others.'

Safeguarding Heritage

The Egyptian Heritage Rescue Team completed the First Aid to Cultural Heritage training programme in Cairo – an initiative supported by the Prince Claus Fund. For the final exam, a simulated explosion tested the groups' ability to safeguard objects from a collapsed site, retrieve them from the rubble, evacuate them, assess the damage and safely store them. These heritage experts will now return to their home regions throughout Egypt to put their new skills into practice.

Ticket Fund

The Prince Claus Fund is currently accepting applications for the Ticket Fund. The Ticket Fund supports the cross-cultural exchange of artists and cultural practitioners.  By covering travel costs, such as economy class plane or train tickets, the Ticket Fund assists in the professional growth and networking abilities of those it supports.
