Open Call for Proposals

The GSRD Foundation and Prince Claus Fund are delighted to announce a new call for proposals: The Future is Handmade: Re-designing Crafts. This joint collaboration invites creative entrepreneurs and young artists in Bangladesh to think ‘outside the box’ and dare to reimagine crafts. As of 20 April 2014, the call is open to creative entrepreneurs based in Bangladesh doing pioneering work in the field of crafts.

Carla Fernández

In a festive ceremony at Mexico City's Palacio de Bellas Artes on 1 April 2014, Carla Fernández received the 2013 Prince Claus Award. Fernández is a fashion innovator and cultural historian who works with indigenous weavers to transform beautiful traditional textiles into cutting-edge design, several of whom also attended the ceremony. Safeguarding Heritage

The Egyptian Heritage Rescue Team completed the First Aid to Cultural Heritage training programme in Cairo – an initiative supported by the Prince Claus Fund. For the final exam, a simulated explosion tested the groups' ability to safeguard objects from a collapsed site, retrieve them from the rubble, evacuate them, assess the damage and safely store them. These heritage experts will now return to their home regions throughout Egypt to put their new skills into practice.

Teater Garasi

The night of 26 March was an action-packed evening at the Erasmus Huis in Jakarta: the innovative Indonesian performance collective Teater Garasi received the Prince Claus Award from the Dutch Ambassador Tjeerd de Zwaan! The ceremony coincided with an exhibition, followed by a mindboggling performance by the collective.

Tiny Toones

An incredible evening with the Cambodian hip-hop crew Tiny Toones! The Prince Claus Fund partner tore the house down at the International Community Arts Festival (ICAF) in Rotterdam, with TWO standing ovations. Alejandro Zambra

A mix of Chile’s top writers and actors, embassy officials and friends of the Prince Claus Fund came together to celebrate the work of Alejandro Zambra at the 2013 Prince Claus Award ceremony in Santiago. In a gathering in the garden of Dutch embassy, Zambra accepted the award from HE Ambassador Marion Kappeyne van de Coppello.

Chris Cozier

Chris Cozier received the 2013 Prince Claus Award! In celebration, Alice Yard - the art space he co-founded in Port of Spain- hosted ‘Christopher Cozier: One Night Collaborations Version 2’. it was an evening of experimental, interactive art works with sound, animated projection sequences and live action. In the midst of the festivities, Dutch Ambassador to Trinidad & Tobago HE Lucita MoenirAlam presented the award to Cozier

Oscar Muñoz

Visual artist Oscar Muñoz received his 2013 Prince Claus Award in Bogota from the Dutch ambassador to Colombia. Muñoz is honoured for his poetic artworks, which convey complex ideas about memory and mortality with simple techniques. He also greatly contributes to the development of the arts scene in Colombia through the arts centre in Cali ‘Room for Doubts’.

Idrissou Mora-Kpaï

Documentary filmmaker Idrissou Mora-Kpaï received the Prince Claus Award from the Dutch Ambassador to Benin on 7 March 2014. Idrissou is honoured for his poignant documentaries that examine challenging African narratives, which are not only historically significant and socially relevant, but masterfully filmed

Ticket Fund

The Prince Claus Fund is currently accepting applications for the Ticket Fund. The Ticket Fund supports the cross-cultural exchange of artists and cultural practitioners.  By covering travel costs, such as economy class plane or train tickets, the Ticket Fund assists in the professional growth and networking abilities of those it supports.
