Call for Proposals

The Prince Claus Fund in collaboration with the GSRD Foundation are delighted to announce our joint call for proposals for Vietnam: The Future is Handmade: Re-designing Crafts. We invite pioneering Vietnamese creative entrepreneurs, artists´ collectives and organisations based in Vietnam who are working on empowering, revitalising and reimagining traditional crafts within the Vietnamese context to apply.

Abel Rodríguez

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Colombia, Robert van Embden, held a reception on 24 June 2015 at his residence in honor of Abel Rodríguez, 2014 Principal Prince Claus Laureate. Ambassador van Embden highlighted the importance of this award acknowledging the work of Mr. Rodríguez to preserve the traditions of the Nonuya, his indigenous community, and stressing the necessity to take the views and needs of the indigenous communities into account

Saving Nepal's Heritage

In a joint effort to cope with the challenges Nepal’s heritage faces in the aftermath of the 25 April earthquake, the Prince Claus Fund has joined together with ICCROM, ICOMOS, the Smithsonian Institution and ICOM to carry out intensive training in Kathmandu to salvage and protect cultural heritage.

Charles Correa

We are saddened by the news of the passing of Charles Correa (1930- 2015), accomplished architect, planner, activist and theoretician. Mr Correa served as a member of the Prince Claus Awards Committee from 1998-2001

New Collaboration

The Prince Claus Fund is excited to announce the launch of a two-year collaboration with the Trust for African Rock Art (TARA). Under this collaboration, both organisations will pool their experience, financial resources, and networks to stop destruction of rock art sites across the African continent.

Nepal Evacuation

On 25 April 2015, a 7.9 magnitude earthquake shook the Himalayan region, causing the partial collapse of the Living Traditions Museum of Kathmandu Valley, Nepal. The Prince Claus Fund supported the immediate evacuation of over 400 museum objects before aftershocks destroyed the entire museum building

First Aid to Heritage

From 30 March to 24 April 2015, 21 professionals from risk-prone areas such as Gaza, Guatemala, Haiti, Philippines, Syria and Ukraine convened in Amsterdam to participate in the international course on First Aid to Cultural Heritage in Times of Crisis, jointly organized by ICCROM, the Smithsonian Institution, the Netherlands National Commission of UNESCO, and 11 national institutions including the Prince Claus Fund. CER Reflections

The Ticket Fund supports the cross-cultural exchange of artists and cultural practitioners. By covering travel costs, such as economy class plane or train tickets, the Ticket Fund assists in the professional growth and networking abilities of those it supports.

Torchbearer Reflection

Prince Claus Fund Torchbearers Marry de Gaay Fortman and Evert Meiling supported the Cambodian hiphop crew & education centre Tiny Toones in 2013. When the dancers performed in Rotterdam, Marry and her family were there: 'Afterwards, talking to the Tiny Toones performers, my daughters were impressed by these young performers' joyfulness and their energy, creativity and the way they connected to other people: they are a great example to others.'
