Suad Amiry is a writer, an architect, and a political and social activist. She is the founder of RIWAQ: Centre for Architectural Conservation in Ramallah, Palestine and is a former member of the Prince Claus Awards Committee.
Amiry, who taught architecture at Birzeit University, is also a prolific writer. She is the author of numerous architectural and non-fiction books. Her bestseller book Sharon and My Mother-in-Law, which was translated into twenty languages, won the prestigious Italian Literary Prize Premio Viareggio in 2004. Her last book Golda Slept Here also won the Italian Premio Nonnino in 2014. Amiryand her organization Riwaq are winners of many international awards including the Prince Clause Award, the Curry Stone Design Prize and the Aga Kahn Award for architecture in 2013.
