On the 13th of April the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture Ceremony takes places at the Cité de l'Architecture in Paris. During the ceremony two partners of the Prince Claus Fund will be honored for their work on sustainable architecture: Anne Feenstra and Salma Samar Damluji

Current Call

The current call welcomes project proposals for cultural initiatives from organizations and individuals from the following countries: Cambodia, East Timor, Nepal, Laos, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, The Philippines, Thailand, Mongolia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan. The deadline for the submission of projects is 15 March 2012

Goed Geld Gala

On 9 February 2011 the annual ‘Goed Geld Gala’ was organised by the Dutch Postcode Lottery in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Director of the Prince Claus Fund, Christa Meindersma, and Marjorie Boston, Member of the Board, attended the Gala. They were delighted to receive a cheque for the Prince Claus Fund representing a contribution of 500.000, - Euros.

Jewish kitchen

On Thursday 2 February, cookbook writer Claudia Roden was interviewed by Hanneke Groenteman at the Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam. As part of the exhibition 'Judaism: A World of Stories', the Prince Claus Fund and the Nieuwe Kerk organized this evening with Claudia Roden who shared stories of her quest for Jewish dishes around the world

Shahidul's Journey

The Prince Claus Fund organised the book presentation of the photo book My Journey as a Witness by Shahidul Alam on 24 January 2012. In Foam Amsterdam Shahidul passionately told the story of his journey to becoming among other a photographer and a cultural activist who in his own way fights for justice and equality in his country Bangladesh

Blog from Tibet

From 14 December and in the following three months you can read the blog written by Tsering Woeser (1966, Lhasa), Tibetan blogger and Prince Claus Laureate of 2011, on the website of the NRC (Dutch newspaper). For the NRC she writes about her travels, her memories, hopes and stories on Tibet in a poetic way. The blogs are translated to Dutch by Silvia Marijnissen

Principal Award

The Prince Claus Fund’s 2011 Principal Award was presented to Chimurenga on 14 December in the Royal Palace in Amsterdam in presence of Her Majesty the Queen, HRH Prince Willem Alexander and HRH Princess Máxima, HRH Prince Friso, HRH Princess Mabel, HRH Prince Constantijn and HRH Princess Laurentien. As the first Pan African magazine, Chimurenga plays an important role in breaking taboos throughout the continent

Lives Behind

The exhibition Lives Behind with photographs of 2011 Prince Claus Laureate Rena Effendi (Azerbaijan) was opened on 12 December in the Prince Claus Fund Gallery by Rena Effendi who spoke of her work which is an eloquent testimony to human dignity and resilience. The exhibition focuses on people’s extraordinary ability to adapt to any situation. Included are photographs from various series of photographs by Rena Effendi. It can be visited in Amsterdam till 9 March 2012
