En colaboración con personas y organizaciones principalmente de África, Asia, América Latina y el Caribe, la Fundación Príncipe Claus brinda apoyo e inicia actividades que contribuyen a crear una interacción positiva entre la cultura y el desarrollo. La Fundación Príncipe Claus tiene cuatro programas principales para apoyar las acciones culturales y para concientizar sobre la importancia que tiene la cultura como necesidad básica.

SH Contemporary

At the initiative of network partner Arthub Asia, the Prince Claus Fund presented its activities at the Shanghai Contemporary from 8 – 10 September. Given the important role artists and intellectuals play in China this was a great opportunity for the Fund to connect to Chinese artists and cultural pioneers. The Prince Claus Fund supports persons and organizations in situations where freedom for cultural expression is limited due to conflict, poverty, oppression, marginalization and taboos.

15 years Prince...

On 6 September 2011 the Prince Claus Fund exists for 15 years. The Fund was established to celebrate the seventieth birthday of HRH Prince Claus in appreciation for his efforts in the field of international cooperation. The Prince Claus Fund supports cultural pioneers in situations and in areas where freedom for cultural expression is limited due to conflict, poverty, oppression, marginalization and taboos. These are often persons willing to take risks and thereby create space for others.

Erasure Exhibition

2010 Laureate Dinh Q. Lê opens a new exhibition called Erasure on 8 July 2011 at Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation. His work exists of an interactive sculptural and video installation that draws on recent debates in Australia concerning refugees and asylum seekers. The exhibition will be open for public from 8 July 2011 until 10 September 2011.

African Hip Hop...

Within the International Art Programme in Amsterdam the Prince Claus Fund and the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts collaborated with the African Hip Hop Foundation in organizing an evening on African Hip Hop on Wednesday 8 June in the Melkweg in Amsterdam. New Network Partners

The Prince Claus Fund is extending its network through intensive co-operation with Museo de Antioquia from Colombia and Nepal’s Southasia Trust. Both organisations play an important role in regions torn apart by violence. Through their inclusion in the Prince Claus Fund’s Network Partnership Program, they will each receive € 180,000 over a period of three years, which is to be used for developing activities.

Restoration of the...

On January 5, 2010, a large fire in the library of l’Institut des Belles Lettres Arabes in Tunis destroyed more than 14.000 books, many of which dated from the 17th and 18th century. Housed in a 19th century palace, the building was greatly damaged and the collection exposed to heat, smoke and water.
