Writer and activist Kanak Mani Dixit was released today, 2 May 2016. Kanak Mani Dixit, a Prince Claus Laureate and long-time partner of the Fund, is known and respected in Nepal and internationally as a catalyst for positive change. Kanak was arrested on Friday 22 April near his office in Patan Dhoka in Kathmandu and was held until today.

Today Magnum Foundation announced this year’s recipients of the Emergency Fund, a grant that supports independent photographers to produce in-depth and creative underreported stories. Through a new collaboration with the Prince Claus Fund, this grant extends support to photographers working on critical issues in their home regions within countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe.
