One policy, four themes

Since it was founded in 1996 the Prince Claus Fund has developed four themes of Culture and Development:

1. Zones of Silence
2. Creating Spaces of Freedom
3. Beauty in Context
4. Living Together

These four themes fulfil and underline the Fund’s objective of reinforcing the relations between culture and development. Their content is interconnected. These themes are reflected in all the Fund’s activities.

Humour and Satire

The 2005 theme, Humour and Satire, also reflects these four main themes. Spaces of freedom are created and the fact that cultural contexts differ from place to place is emphasised. Whereas one culture may laugh at a joke, another will find it tasteless. However, humour can also transcend borders. read more
