What's new?

March 22, 3 pm, Chinese Graphic Design and Typography - Then and Now

Looking at the rise and evolution of typography and graphic design in China since early 20th century, this panel will look back to the radical propositions of a century ago, and forward to a vision for the twenty-first century as imagined by today’s designers and artists, intending to place typography within the context of contemporary artistic movements. Three extinguished panelists, Lynn Pann, Ou Ning, and  Pan Jian Feng will present their investigations in typography and expressive calligraphy both from a historical and contemporary perspective to provide a deep understanding of the structure and creative process behind Chinese typography and graphic design, and its extraordinary and influential visual language.
Organized and moderated by Defne Ayas.

Chobi Mela V, a great success!

The festival has been a fantastic success and the number of visitors and the media coverage has far exceeded our most optimistic expectations. It is an indication of how the event has matured and the standing it now has. Some of the press coverage in printed media, is listed at: shahidul.wordpress.com/cmv-press

The Ecole des Sables is very happy about a first "real" collaboration with another Network partner

Reyum/Daravuth Ly from Cambodia had organised a workshop and exchange between Germaine Acogny and different groupes of Cambodian dancers between January 16th and 24th. There was also a public conference and at the end of the workshop a performance/demonstration of the results of the workshop infront of a nice crowd of Cambodians and foreigners.
The mixture of African elements of Germaines technique and Cambodian dances was poetic and full of power. Germaine's drummer had worked  with local musicians and their concert was also a big success.
