
BizArt / Arthub is a Shanghai-based not-for-profit art centre dedicated to the furtherance of experimental concepts and ideas in China and the rest of Asia.
Since its inception in 1998, BizArt / Arthub has always been standing at the forefront of the local contemporary art scene. Each year, BizArt organizes a wide range of over 50 experimental and visionary art events, in an effort to create an atmosphere that welcomes, encourages and supports contemporary arts, as well as fostering a community where different ideas and individuals merge, interact and motivate each other.
Through active involvements in many of China’s best exhibitions and art events and close collaborations with individual artists and established local and international organizations, BizArt / Arthub has attained an excellent reputation and an outstanding track record in the cultural field, winning the support and recognition of renowned arts professionals around the world. It has showcased some of the most challenging artists from both within and outside of China, many of whom have become widely recognized over the years.
BizArt / Arthub actively organizes wide-ranging exhibitions and artistic activities, covering various areas and networks. The organization provides an experimental platform to develop artistic expressions. Simultaneously, BizArt / Arthub regularly organizes conferences, symposiums, workshops and other various education activities, in order to stimulate exchanges and dialogues between the artistic fields and to present to the public new artistic concepts.
In parallel, BizArt / Arthub supports and hosts in its premises a web forum about contemporary art, “Hey! Shehui”, in order to enhance communication between art circles, encourage exchange of information and facilitate the access to contemporary art.
BizArt / Arthub is a self-supported and not-for-profit art centre which in the past has been funding its various artistic endeavors and covering its operating costs through engaging in business undertakings on the side. The organization has never operated with the support of public funding.
Period
BizArt / Arthub, Network Partner from 1 December 2007 to the 31 of November 2010. BizArt receives an amount of 181,000 Euros for this period of three years.
