
CER is preparing a publication about cultural emergency relief to commemorate the CER conference “Culture is a Basic Need; Responding to Cultural Emergencies”, which was held in The Hague on 25 & 26 September 2006. This book is being jointly compiled by Georg Frerks (a CER Steering Committee member, the Head of Disaster Studies at the University of Wageningen, and Professor at the Centre for Conflict Studies at the University of Utrecht) and Berma Klein Goldewijk (the Director of CEDAR International at the T.M.C. Asser Instituut, The Hague). This book will consist of contributions by various international authors and is expected to be published in the course of 2009.
Conference Report: Culture is a Basic Need, Responding to Culural Emergencies, 2006
A summary of the conclusions and recommendations of the CER conference “Culture is a Basic Need; Responding to Cultural Emergencies”, which was held on 25 & 26 September 2006 at the Koninklijke Schouwburg in The Hague. The conference comprised a public event and an expert meeting. It was partly made possible through the support of the Dutch Postcode Lottery (as a part of its “HERE” campaign), the Municipality of The Hague and ISIM.
The Prince Claus Fund Journal #14:
The Prince Claus Fund Journal #14 was presented to the Mayor of The Hague at the opening of the CER conference. It contained various essays by CER partners and other involved parties. Through its Journal #14, the Prince Claus Fund wishes to increase the level of recognition for the importance of culture and cultural emergency relief in humanitarian emergency situations.
