
The annual Prince Claus Awards were presented In the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ in Amsterdam on 3 December 2008.
In the presence of HM Queen Beatrix, HRH Prince Willem Alexander, HRH Princess Máxima, HRH Prince Contantijn, HRH Princess Laurentien and HRH Princess Mabel, HRH Prince Friso presented the Principal Prince Claus Award to Indian author Indira Goswami.

Two other 2008 laureates gave wonderful presentations of their work; Chinese designer Ma Ke showed the collection 'WUYONG, the Earth' and Haitian dance company Ayikodans performed 'Zantray', choreographed by 2008 Prince Claus Laureate Jeanguy Saintus.
We were honoured by the presence of two other 2008 laureates. Uchechukwu James Iroha was in the Netherlands as well as Ousmane Sow and there were two Principal Laureates of previous years, Reza Abedini and Faustin Linyekula. Furthermore the Ceremony was attended by a great number of international and national guests.
