The presentation of the Prince Claus Award to the National Museum of Mali

The Prince Claus Award for 2006 was presented to Samuel Sidibé, Director of the National Museum of Mali, by the Prince Claus Fund’s Honorary Chairman, Prince Constantijn, on the afternoon of February 17th, 2007. The ceremony and reception took place at the museum in Bamako and was timed to coincide with the premiere, later that evening, of the Sahel Opera, a project supported both by the Fund and the government of Mali. Also in attendance were Royal Netherlands Ambassador Harry Buikema, Prince Constantijn’s brother and co-honorary chairman Prince Friso, their wives, princesses Laurentien and Mabel, the Chairman of the Prince Claus Fund Board, Lilian Gonçalves-Ho Kang You and the Fund’s Director, Els van der Plas, along with 200 invited guests.
