On 16 December, His Excellency, Ambassador Gerard Jan van Epen presented the Prince Claus Award to Christine Tohme at a gallery in Beirut. The official ceremony was followed by “Make Me Stop Smoking”, a performance by the well-known Lebanese theatre maker Rabih Mroue that had been especially created for this occasion. Approximately 180 people attended the presentation of the Prince Claus Award and the performance in Beirut.
Frédéric Housseini, the Director-General of the Department of Antiquities, was present in his capacity as the representative of the Lebanese Minister of Culture. The guests also included a great many members of the Lebanese cultural world.
