Applications

Please note that the procedure for applications has changed. The new procedure will lead to more transparency and we hope it will speed up the process.

Only activities or projects starting at least six months after the next deadline will be taken into consideration. You can send your application before the deadline but note that we will start processing the applications at the given dates. The upcoming deadlines are:

1 July 2008
1 October 2008

The objective of the Prince Claus Fund is to increase cultural awareness and to promote exchange between culture and development. The Fund regards the interaction between culture and development as the confirmation of culture’s integral role in development processes.
The Prince Claus Fund contributes its expertise and interesting network, and also collaborates as financial partner. The positive effects that activities will have within a wider social and cultural context are always taken into consideration by the Fund.

The Fund supports platforms for cultural exchange, by initiating and financing conferences, workshops, exhibitions, festivals and networks. In addition, it supports artistic productions and publications, the Prince Claus Fund Library, and websites.

Procedure

Individuals or organisations, interested in collaborating with or requesting financial assistance from the Prince Claus Fund are kindly asked to download the Electronic Application Form (EAF) and accompanying Instructions found on this web page.

Please read the Instructions carefully, fill out the EAF electronically, save it and send it as an attachment to requests@princeclausfund.nl, from the email address you wish to use for subsequent contact.

Please send the EAF once and from one email source. Be aware that sending applications to other Prince Claus Fund emails or in other forms will delay your application.

However, hand-written or hard copies of the EAF will be accepted, only in case of  communications limitations.

Once you send the EAF you will receive an acknowledgement of receipt.

Before sending the EAF we encourage the interested parties to closely read the guidelines below:

  • Please note that the Fund does not accept proposals that fall short of the time needed to complete the procedure. The activity should start at least 6 months after the next deadline.
  • Support is  given to persons and organisations based in African, Asian, Latin American and Caribbean countries. Activities that are being initiated and executed in the above named parts of the world are given priority. Requests coming from western countries are only in exceptional cases taken into consideration.
  • Study-grants, educational programs or academic research related to study as such are not taken into consideration by the Fund.
  • Proposals for documentaries or feature films cannot be taken into consideration.
  • The Fund does not provide writing grants.

Special attention will be given to projects that fall within the relevant and actual geographical and/or disciplinary priorities of the Prince Claus Fund, within its financial capabilities, and within the central themes of the Fund. At the same time the Prince Claus Fund values quality, innovation, and intercultural exchange.

The Fund hopes to be surprised and inspired by your initiative.

Timely inquiries

Please note that due to the sheer number of requests we receive, it will take at least four months (counting from the next deadline that is given if we receive your application before that date) for the Fund to process your application before we can reach a decision. We highly appreciate your patience.
