The devastating earthquake in Haiti severely damaged archives and libraries that hold remains of Haiti's cultural history and official papers such as marriage certificates, permits and other important documents. The Cultural Emergency Response (CER) programme of the Prince Claus Fund works on saving these documents trough the establishment of the Treatment Centre in Port-au-Prince.
International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), implementing partner for the realisation of the Treatment Centre, organises a training session in paper conservation as part of the reconstruction process. The session takes place from 1-7 August 2011 and in order to build on local capacity, IFLA will work with the local personnel employed at the archives and libraries.
